Perch is now open downtown, atop the historic Pershing Square building. The 11,000-square-foot space, inspired by French bistros, is a three-story venue with views of the city. Rachel Thomas and Coly Den Haan (who established the Must wine bar) teamed up with building owner and real estate developer Jeffrey Fish to create the venue, which has multiple dining and entertainment venues within.
Fish built two additional floors on the roof of the building to create the multilevel space. The new 15th floor, which offers indoor and outdoor seating, serves as the main bar and restaurant. Floors 13 and 16 are used as event spaces or for overflow during regular business hours.
The 16th floor is a private rooftop lounge with bar and two fire pits. It holds about 100 people. The 15th floor includes Perch restaurant and lounge and has two outdoor fireplaces, with room for about 250 people. The 13th-floor event space holds about 80. There's a fully stocked bar on each level, and the venue has a full on-site kitchen and restaurant. (Chef Benjamin Udave, formerly executive chef of the Jonathan Club, is behind the menu.) There's also an indoor step-and-repeat area.
The interior has French decor with wood accents and custom upholstered Deco-influenced sofas that sit on hand-painted tile. Outside, iron dining furniture complements wicker lounge pieces. There are fireplaces and fire pits.
“What sets Perch apart from other spaces is the uninterrupted view," said Thomas in a statement. "The perimeter is all glass, so you feel as though you're floating up there. You can gaze at the sunset and watch the planes flying into LAX."
Jennifer Mitzkus is the event director.
