The unique take on a traditional guestbook launched in May 2016 as a new, interactive alternative for guests at events to record testimonials, feedback, and more with a stylish telephone rather than pen and paper. Based in Bethesda, Maryland, the phones come in a variety of styles and colors including a Jazz Age version and a baroque-theme version created with faux brass called the Maharani. The self-contained phones also serve as event decor and can come with pre-recorded greetings from event hosts.

Thirteen-year-old Zachary Blatter—the son of a Mirrorball principal—celebrated his bar mitzvah and birthday in September 2015 with a little help from his dad’s event-planner colleagues. The steampunk-theme evening—which took place in Ardsley, New York—featured integrated virtual-reality technology that created a retrospective of Zachary’s life, as well as immersive theatrical experiences and custom costumes for each of his 120 guests.

Inspired by the fashion magazine’s futuristic light tunnel-style photo booth at the Met Gala, which was held in May in New York, Coco Events allows guests to strike a pose and rock out to music during their photo session. The booth is approximately 8 feet deep and 6 feet wide, and rents for as many as five hours for $2,500. Guests receive a print and video via email.

Using a special polish and printing process, Nail Printing Events creates custom nail art, including emojis, logos, and even selfies. The designs are printed directly onto guests’ nails and can be removed with nail polish remover.

Sponsor Moët & Chandon set up its ever-popular and Instagram-magnet champagne vending machine, which guests operated using golden tokens.

Another room had a forest environment designed to appear larger with mirrors. Decor included LED lollipops that changed color when triggered by motion.

American Express celebrated the announcement of two new airport lounges in Hong Kong and Philadelphia with a travel-theme event that took place January 31 at Spring Studios. Produced and designed by PMK-BNC and Workshop Worldwide, the event featured decor including a paper airplane arch.

“MAS worked with a whole group of illustrators to create these,” said Choi. “They were first used in an event we produce every year, the YouTube Creators Summit. We loved the illustrations so much, so we thought it would be a fun way to incorporate some of the creators into this event at VidCon.”

“[The Creator Lounge] was a brand-new activation for this year, so we got to start from scratch with the mindset of making a warm and inviting space for creators,” said Choi.

Throughout the party, guests could enjoy kid-friendly interactive moments such as a photo booth, a tablet-controlled racetrack, and a chemistry set activation where they could make their own slime, bouncy balls, and whirlpools in a jar. Drinks and snacks were served by 200 Proof.Â
