Last month, fine art gallery Luis Perez Galeria partnered with music label Acustronic to launch the Wynwood arts district's newest venue—and the label's headquarters—the Awarehouse. Part indoor concert venue, part art gallery, the 20,000-square-foot property is available for art- and music-related events and festivals.
The 5,000-square-foot converted warehouse's industrial gray rubber floor and white cinder block walls are accented by artists Edgar Negret's and Mauro Mejiaz's brightly colored abstract sculptures and paintings. The mezzanine level overlooks the entire space and displays additional artwork.
A movable 300-square-foot performance stage anchors the ground floor, which also has a fully equipped recording studio under the mezzanine that's used exclusively by Acustronic's electronic music group, organicArma.
The venue's 10-foot windows provide views of a 15,000-square-foot outdoor sculpture garden that can accommodate 1,000 people. The warehouse can hold 500.
