The festival celebrated 25 years in 2013 as more than 5,000 athletes from Canada, the United States, and abroad gathering on picturesque Centre Island to compete and raise money for charities. Next: June 2014

The N.B.A. launched the Big Tour in Canada this year, aimed at increasing youth participation in basketball across the country. The Toronto events—exhibition games, wheelchair basketball, and slam-dunk competitions—take place at the Scarborough Town Centre and are expected to draw as many as 75,000 fans. Next: October 19, 2013
