For the Wildlife Conservation Society's junior committee benefit, an Asian theme took over the interior of the Central Park Zoo. Musters & Company covered dining tables with red and pink silk table linens, and slate-colored rectangular dishes with deer moss, orchids and lilies laid inside served as centerpieces. Because a storm threatened the outdoor party, a transparent-roofed tent (just like the one we saw from the previous night's Mies van der Rohe gala) from Stamford Tent covered the dining area and dance floor. More tables were scattered around the zoo, including a few inside the penguin exhibit, where snowy icicles dripping from the rocks provided the perfect setting for the penguins to entertain dining guests. Antiqued metal lanterns made of animal-shaped cutouts surrounded by votive candles and orchids decorated these indoor tables.
The atmosphere was a classier, less tchotchke-laden take on the Asian theme than the decor we saw at Glamour's Wonders of the Far East dance.
