Among the many things a new year can bring, new travel aspirations are definitely some of them—especially for the meetings and events lot. Thankfully, plenty of tried-and-true destinations (and some that might be considered emerging) around the world are welcoming impressive new hotels this year, from Dallas to Dubai, to Orlando to Oslo.

Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville | Canada

Later this month, Canopy by Hilton will make its brand debut in Canada. The new Toronto Yorkville property will be steps away from the heart of Yorkville and offer 184 guest rooms, 34 premium Canopy rooms, and 11 suites. On-site F&B outlets will include Día, an all-day café; and Virtu Social House, which features seasonal sourcing and offers wine and cocktails. The hotel will also be host to a wellness center with a pool as well as yoga and fitness rooms with state-of-the-art equipment, custom rubber flooring, and graffiti murals representing the local street art community. On the same floor will be five meeting rooms named after iconic Toronto communities, totaling more than 3,500 square feet of space. The spaces will be notable for their natural light, outdoor terrace space, and incubator-style setups to facilitate collaborative work sessions.

Conrad Orlando | US

Slated to open in fall 2023, Conrad Orlando will aim to support meeting goers and leisure travelers alike in what is often considered the theme park capital of the world. The new Conrad hotel (part of Hilton's luxury brand) will comprise 433 guest rooms, including 51 suites and 10 family suites with oversized accommodations. Guests can also expect a Conrad Spa, water garden, and various dining options, including a rooftop outlet. Planners will also be able to work with more than 40,000 square feet of indoor meeting and event space. Conrad Orlando will be a part of the Evermore Orlando Resort (also scheduled to open in 2023), which will feature a 20-acre tropical beach, an 8-acre crystalline lagoon, and two Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole golf courses. All of it will border Walt Disney World.

Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center (Exterior Revamp) | US

A major enhancement will soon debut at Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center. This month, the mega meetings property plans to debut a $22 million exterior revamp that will bring "an elevated arrival experience," according to a press release. The project aims to help guests and meeting goers more thoroughly enjoy the Colorado outdoors. Features of the revamp include a new games lawn (think: bocce ball, corn hole, and giant chess) and the addition of terraces to on-site dining concepts Old Hickory Steakhouse and Mountain Pass Sports Bar. The Grand Lodge Lawn will now have a large, freestanding double-fireplace structure, with two 9-foot-wide hearths. The lawn—available for events—will also feature a 10,000-square-foot artificial turf area and four fire pits. The project will also make use of more than 1,500 native and adaptive trees.

Hilton Santa Marta | Colombia

The Colombian city of Santa Marta is known as the gateway to the famous Lost City trek and archeological site. It's also home to Tayrona National Park's white-sand beaches. And just last week, Hilton Santa Marta debuted with 261 guest rooms, five dining experiences, and more than 11,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the property design was inspired by its surroundings; the main entrance features a water mirror made of Tayrona stone and a façade composed of a metal structure inspired by the nearby coral reefs. As for the meeting space, expect eight meeting rooms and a ballroom that can hold up to 450 guests. There's also a terrace on the 16th floor, ideal for an outdoor event offering prime views.

Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab | UAE

Looking to host or entertain groups in Dubai? Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, nestled on the destination's largest private beach, plans to debut in Q3 of 2023, and it will boast a stunning private event space: the Marsa Suite. The venue will span 6,500 square feet to host up to 80 people. Additional highlights include a 5,000-square-foot terrace that offers 180-degree views of the Persian Gulf and the iconic Burj Al Arab on one side, and the hotel's private marina and downtown Dubai on the other. Planners can also expect two guest rooms and an impressive indoor layout. The property's overall exterior design is of note too, meant to evoke the aesthetic of a futuristic superyacht.

JW Marriott Dallas Arts District | US

When JW Marriott Dallas Arts District opens in mid-April 2023, it will be Dallas' first JW Marriott property. Located in downtown Dallas in the heart of the Arts District, the hotel will offer 258 guest rooms; a full-service restaurant, Margaret's; and a heated rooftop pool with views of the Dallas skyline. Planners will be able to work with more than 35,000 square feet of total meeting and event space, including 14 meetings rooms and the 7,776-square-foot Harwood Ballroom that can accommodate up to 480 for a reception. Along with Margaret's—which will focus on ingredients found in North Texas—guests can enjoy Vincent’s Sky Bar, a social space serving up handcrafted cocktails and pours from an enviable wine list. There will also be a full-service coffee shop in the lobby.

Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel & Residences | US

Accor's ultra-luxury brand Raffles will make its North American debut in mid-2023 with Raffles Boston Back Bay Hotel & Residences. Along with 147 guest rooms and 146 residences (with pied-a-terre suites), the 35-story property will feature a stunning three-story sky lobby—the first of its kind in the city—perched high above Copley Square. On-site will be a Raffles Spa, an indoor pool and fitness center, a rooftop garden terrace lounge, and 16 different spaces for meetings and events (some that are for residents only), including a ballroom with views of the Charles River.

Regent Hong Kong | Hong Kong

InterContinental Hong Kong is about ready to unveil its biggest renovation in 30 years. In early 2023, the iconic property—which debuted in 1980 as the Regent Hong Kong—will reopen for the first time since 2020 as the Regent Hong Kong once again. In its four decades, the hotel has amassed a loyal following in both the local Hong Kong community and with global travelers who are drawn to it for the acclaimed dining and the picture-perfect views of Victoria Harbour. The Michelin-starred, on-site restaurant specializing in Cantonese cuisine will even return to its original name, Lai Ching Heen. Additionally, meeting and event space abounds with 10 meeting rooms, a 9,031-square-foot ballroom, and more than 4,000 square feet of prefunction space.

The St Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya | Mexico

Expected to debut in March 2023, The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya is surrounded by mangroves and the area's pristine waters. Its design was inspired by Mayan astronomy and comprises semi-circle buildings that allow for coast views from every angle—plus terraces for stargazing. The luxury resort will offer 124 guest rooms and suites and 32 villas with private pools. Planners should note the 10 event rooms that will span more than 51,000 square feet in total, as well as four F&B outlets, a St. Regis Spa, swimming pools facing the ocean, and two 18-hole golf courses designed by José María Olazábal and Nick Faldo.

Villa Inkognito | Norway

Nordic Hotels & Resorts' luxury Oslo hotel Sommerro launched in September 2022, and this April it will welcome Villa Inkognito, a private villa and urban retreat situated next door to the hotel. Both are located in the heart of Frogner in Oslo's West End. The villa is a former private residence that dates back to 1870 and was originally built by architect Thøger Binneballe. Separate to the main building, the 11-suite villa will boast several opulent living rooms, including a library, a "snug" room, meeting and dining room space, an open kitchen, an intimate bar, a fitness room in the basement, and an outdoor area. Guests will be able to enjoy their privacy but still have full access to all of the amenities and services offered at Sommerro (which offers meeting and event spaces of its own with capacity for up to 150 people, plus a 100-seat gilded theater).
