1. Art Basel Miami Beach

Art Basel’s 17th run in Miami Beach in December clocked in 83,000 visitors, collectors, and art enthusiasts at the newly renovated Miami Beach Convention Center. The center’s redesigned Grand Ballroom allowed the show to host its first large-scale performative installation onsite, Abraham Cruzvillegas’s “Autorreconstrucción: To Insist, to Insist, to Insist…” The free, public installation was adapted specifically for the city, combining elements of sculpture, performance, dance, and music. The show featured 268 galleries from 35 countries, and UBS was lead sponsor. Next: December 5-8, 2019

2. Design Miami

Design/Miami 2018’s edition was anchored by key returning brands like Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades, as well as notable partnerships and panels. Lexus, the show's automotive partner, and Whitewall hosted a special Art & Innovation series panel. Savannah College of Art and Design founder and president Paula Wallace hosted Google design leader Mike Buzzard for a conversation about building connectivity between design professionals and the media. 3. Art Miami

Art Miami entered its 29th year in 2018, drawing 84,000 prestigious art collectors, connoisseurs, advisors, and museum professionals attending the December show in conjunction with its sister fair, Context Miami. The satellite events surround Art Basel Miami Beach. The V.I.P. preview welcomed 15,000 guests and was sponsored by Christie’s International Real Estate. Next: December 3-8, 2019

4. Coconut Grove Arts Festival

The Coconut Grove Arts Festival remains a Presidents' Day staple and a popular family-friendly gathering: Nearly 120,000 people fill the streets to peruse paintings, sculptures, and other works by more than 350 artists—all of which are searchable through the festival’s online directory. For the 2019 incarnation, the festival partnered three local radio stations and included scheduled chef demos to round out works by more than 300 artists. Next: February 15-17, 2020

5. Art Deco Weekend Festival

Miami Design Preservation League’s Art Deco Weekend bills itself as the longest-running free cultural community activity in Miami Beach and encompasses more than 85 individual events. The weekend-long event is based on Ocean Drive near the league’s headquarters and takes over nearby streets and institutions with walking tours, performances, vintage fashion shows, classic cars, and lectures. The Antique & Design Promenade is sponsored by the Original Miami Beach Antique Show. Next: January 2020

6. Art Wynwood

Produced by Art Miami, Art Wynwood rang in its eighth edition during Presidents' Day Weekend and featured a V.I.P. Private Preview benefiting the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. Attendance increased 11 percent to more than 28,500 visitors, which included 5,000 visitors for the V.I.P. preview. The show also added a partnership with Informa's Miami Yacht Show, which is held just across Herald Plaza. Next: February 13-17, 2020

7. Design Center of the Americas Winter Market

Artisans and Innovations were the focus of 2019’s DCOTA Winter Market. The primarily trade-focused itinerary included continuing education seminars, book signings, collection debuts, showroom reveals, and trunk shows. The fall market will follow in November. Next: February 2020
