Entrepreneur Eric Clay is joining forces with former Love honcho Marquis Perkins to open the 30,000-square-foot nightclub Ibiza next week. In a former warehouse a few blocks north of Capitol Hill and west of
Penn Quarter, the multilevel, multifaceted space is aggressive in its
offerings—a 60-foot stage, 3-D imagery projections (ready for corporate logos),
a Starbucks espresso bar, and a million-dollar Martin sound system are a
sampling of the amenities on-site.The Grand Room is the focal point. Decorated
in white and stainless steel, the bilevel space, which can hold as many
as 2,000 people, features three 30-foot bars, a V.I.P. terrace (with its own
bar), a DJ booth, and a greenroom for celebrity artists. The venue’s on-site restaurant
seats 60 and will be serving an American menu with international accents for
breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Adjacent to the restaurant is the bilevel Black and Red Room, a Japanese-inspired space
complete with a red-glass-encased waterfall. Upstairs is an outdoor zen garden with
fountains, moss-covered walls, and—we hear—great views of the Capitol. Ibiza is kicking
off with a launch party on June 29. Flamethrowers, acrobats, and DJ
Cassidy will be on-hand.
