The family that owned the sprawling Gaylord Indian restaurant for more than 20 years has transformed the space into a contemporary, colorful restaurant and lounge, now known as Tanzore. AkarStudios designed the space, which is full of textures, sights, and sounds reminiscent of a Bollywood feature.

The spacious lounge is filled with cool blue and purple colors, ottomans and sofas, and a video wall and large flat-screen TVs often tuned to Indian fashion shows and films. The dining room has a rich red-and-gold theme, with high circular booths in the back, a flower- and candle-filled Egyptian tub, and black leather banquettes along the wall. Indian sculpture and artifacts decorate all the rooms. The small private dining room (with some of the most beautiful white raised-paisley custom wallpaper we've ever seen) has audiovisual capabilities and holds 49 for seated events.

The owners have kept the adjacent Gaylord as an event-only space; it holds 200 for receptions. The menu is modern, too, featuring more seasonal, California-inspired dishes with Indian herbs and spices.
