Enigmatic Icelandic band Sigur Rós exhibits its starkly beautiful sound and vision with the release this week of the double CD Hvarf/Heim and the stunning documentary DVD Heima, out November 20. Translating to “disappeared” and also “haven,” Hvarf brings new recordings of lost songs together with the lush acoustic versions found on Heim, which means “home.” The DVD depicts a series of free, unannounced concerts that the band conducted all over their native Iceland in venues including fish factories, fields, blackened caves, and vast canyons, attended by both ardent fans and local villagers.
