On February 13, the Boeing Company revealed its new 747-8 Intercontinental airplane at a 10,000-guest event in Everett, Washington.

Boeing reps tapped Chicago-based Event Architects to assist with production, which involved a bevy of logistical hurdles. Because of the new airplane's sheer size—with 467 seats, it's the longest passenger aircraft in the world—it was a challenge to keep the model hidden until the grand reveal.

Planners ultimately surrounded the aircraft with a 61- by-225-foot Kabuki drape, which exceeds the size of the 60- by 200-foot drape used at a Continental event in 2009. At the time, the Continental Kabuki drop was called the world's largest.
