D.C. Convention Center Expands Meeting Space

In the final days of 2008, the Washington Convention Center Authority announced plans to retrofit portions of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center to create 40,000 square feet of additional flexible space for meetings, exhibits or banquets within easy reach of the Grand Lobby. To build the space without new exterior construction, staff offices will be relocated and Skyfold walls will be installed in the East and West registration areas as well as in Hall C.

Opened in 2003, the center currently has 150,000 square feet of meeting space, 703,000 square feet of exhibition space and 52,000 square feet of ballroom space. Construction is slated to begin in the spring with project completion by the end of the year.
