* INCOMING *

1. OSCARS LOSE HOST, GAIN PRODUCER: Following Tuesday's resignation of Oscarproducer Brett Ratner, Eddie Murphy is out as host as well. Murphy's decision to pull out of the event is not a shock, given that Ratner had handpicked him, and Murphy stars in the Ratner-directed film "Tower Heist."

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Tom Sherak: "I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner, Brett Ratner, and we all wish him well."

Shortly thereafter, the academy named a new producer for the show: Brian Grazer. Los Angeles Times: “Grazer, who produced Ratner's ‘Tower Heist’…has a close relationship with Murphy, and has long wanted to produce the awards telecast. It's intriguing that the academy is going with Grazer, given his close association with Ratner. Still to be seen is whether Grazer will try to bring Murphy back into the fold, or look for someone else.”

2. THE BUSINESS OF CELEBRITY WEDDINGS: In the wake of the Kim Kardashian-Kris Humphries wedding, west coast editor Alesandra Dubin talked to planners and designers like Marcy Blum, David Beahm, and Colin Cowie discuss the PR benefits and pitfalls of working on celebrity weddings, and how the publicity can be a double-edged sword, especially if the marriage falls through.

Cowie got 200 million digital media impressions from a post-wedding party he gave for Kardashian and Humphries. Beahm: “I don’t think I would have worked on the Kardashian wedding. I’m just not much into circus. I believe in the sanctity of a marriage.” And yet: “But that being said, sometimes an offer of publicity is just too good to turn down.”

3. GAGA'S WINTER WORKSHOP: Barney's New York kicked off its holiday campaign yesterday, revealing details of its partnership with Lady Gaga for the much-anticipated Gaga's Workshop. In addition to a multi-sensory environment inside the Madison Avenue store, there will be an extensive display outside when it opens November 21. WWD: "Gaga is a performance artist, thus shoppers entering the store on 60th Street will be greeted by a showstopping [Eli] Sudbrack-created installation: a giant neon Gaga monster framing the doors."

4. FRIDAY'S TRIPLE PLAY DATE: Tomorrow's date, 11.11.11, is inspiring a number of events and promotions that play off the rare sequence of numbers, including one from Energizer. The New York Times: "The event, called the Energizer Night Race for a Brighter World, will include an 11-kilometer race and a 1.1-mile fun run and is being promoted with slogans like '11/11/11: Race at night. Give the gift of light.' Energizer, which is sponsoring the event with a nonprofit organization, One Million Lights, has announced a goal of donating 11 million hours of light to rural communities around the world as part of a new campaign that carries the theme 'Now that’s positive energy.'"

FACEBOOK ON SUCCESSFUL MARKETING: At digital marketing summit Ad:Tech, which started at the Javits Center in New York Tuesday and ends today, Facebook vice president of advertising David Fischer offered tips for companies looking to engage customers on social media networks. Brafton: "Fischer affirmed that personalization is the future of the web.
