* INCOMING *
1. GOOGLE’S HEALTHY FOOD: The search giant famously provides employees with plenty of food in fancy cafeterias. Now it’s focusing on serving healthy options. Fast Company: “Google has turned to ‘nudges’: simple, subtle cues that prompt people to make better decisions. Behavioral economists have shown the idea works, but Google has taken it out of the lab and into the lunchroom. This is a sampling of the encouragement you’d get during trips through the company’s eateries—and naturally, Google is measuring the results.” fastcodesign.com/...
Speaking of Google: exec Marissa Mayer talks about the origins of its stark white homepage. Huffington Post: http://huff.to/HjgW9D
2. COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS WEDDING: The Academy of Country Music announced Tuesday that Martina McBride will perform her new single “Marry Me” at the Academy of Country Music awards Sunday—while a couple gets married live on stage. http://cbsn.ws/GUwFyG

3. COACHELLA LAND GRAB: L.A. Times: “Local politicos and music mavens on Monday applauded Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival promoter Goldenvoice’s decision to purchase 280 acres of land surrounding the stages for its annual concert event in Indio, California. The purchase of the Eldorado Polo Club and three surrounding ranches will enable the Los Angeles-based, AEG-owned concert promoter to increase its Coachella presence and perhaps add jazz, blues, and Latin concerts to its schedule.” http://lat.ms/GTHWMb
4. PAID TO PARTY: Fox News looks at the state of celebrity wrangling. Elliot Stares, of the Miami-based PR consultancy ESPR: “The cost of hiring a celebrity to attend or host an event has risen over the past couple of years...It’s increasingly more difficult for a publicist or brand to garner editorial coverage for an event without a celebrity association.” http://fxn.ws/GXyo1H
5. TRAIN ART: The group behind the High Line—New York’s elevated park on a former rail line—has expressed interest in installing a Jeff Koons sculpture above the site. Called “Train,” it would be a full-size replica of a 1943 Baldwin 2900 steam locomotive, estimated to cost at least $25 million to create and install. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is also interested. (You gotta see the rendering to appreciate it.) The New York Times: http://nyti.ms/H8J8zD

* ABOUT LAST NIGHT: KENNETH COLE PREVIEW *
The designer launched his new Kenneth Cole Collection line in the Cedar Lake space in New York with a dark, moody preview. Giant screens showing videos of larger than life models lined the walls, with targeted speakers overhead, so you could hear the models offer deadpan axioms with considerably less humor than Cole’s punny ads. The rest of the room was all black fixtures and furnishings, with a spot-lit row of samples hanging in the center of room—although most of the fashion editors were talking, not fingering the clothes.
Some of the same faces later headed down to the Top of the Standard—still affectionately known as the Boom Boom Room—for a party hosted by Gilt to toast (with free-flowing champagne) its exclusive line of handbags designed by Brian Atwood, which goes on sale today.
