1. "LION KING" POP-UP: A marketing campaign marking the 15th anniversary of Disney's The Lion King on Broadway will feature a pop-up exhibit in New York City. The $500,000 project, which runs Saturday through December 16, takes over a vacant retail space near Times Square. The New York Times: "Inside 'The Lion King' will fill about 5,000 square feet of space with items from the Broadway and road productions of the show, including costumes, masks, puppets, and sets. Some of them will be visible to passers-by through several windows. There will be displays and touch screens presenting early concept materials and sketches used in developing the show." http://nyti.ms/Te7pWs
2. VALENTINO'S HOLIDAY CHANGE: Instead of hosting its annual holiday celebration, Valentino USA will donate its party budget to New Yorkers for Children’s annual Wrap to Rap event. Women's Wear Daily: "The company will serve as a presenting sponsor of the charity’s annual social gift-wrapping spree, which is set for Wednesday at the Ainsworth in Chelsea. Employees of the fashion house will also be among the volunteers packaging up more than 1,000 holiday gifts for children in foster care at the event." http://wwd.us/TiBkgJ
3. ATTENDEE LOYALTY: The marketing messages at many conferences have become out of control. Velvet Chainsaw: "Best-in-class conference organizers often appoint someone to look out for the attendee experience. This person evaluates everything that is happening through the lens of the attendee—the promises made in marketing, the actions of partners, and the loyalty that is earned through a quality offering." http://bit.ly/YkDHG4
