Natasha Nadel is an account executive at the Dershowitz Group, a communications firm that services non-governmental organizations, foundations, and associations, in addition to Washington think tanks and local and international non-profits. She plans roughly five to seven events per year that average in attendance from 20 to 200 guests.

Gifts: “We’ve ordered our award plaques and conference bags from Bag-It for the past seven years. For the American Jewish Press Association’s journalism awards, called Rockowers, they found marble-bordered plaques to match our rock theme, which cost less than our previous orders and quotes from other companies. Jim Hayes and his staff are very friendly, and whatever we call them for, they will find it for us.”

Printing: “ExpresSign works with a lot of political organizations, so we turned to them when we needed a pop-up banner for a client’s event. We had never ordered a large backdrop before, but they showed us our options and examples. They assisted us from concept to completion.”Printing: “We had a podium sign made for an event from Epicolorspace. They were very honest with us and easy to work with. They showed us our options and estimated the production time line.”

Graphic Design: “Polina Pinchevsky of Nana Design is very creative and pleasant to work with. She is straightforward from the very beginning about what she can work with in the given budget. She has an amazing sense of what is appropriate and timely.”

Mailings: “To send out large mailings such as invitations, announcements, or postcards, we use Karol Media. They print everything you need and mail it. Mass mailings do take time, but this company has good prices and is very responsive.”

Kosher Catering: “Signature Caterers provides great service with waiters who are very personable, and [they serve] beautifully presented kosher food that can be anything from simple dishes to fancy hors d’oeurves. For the AJPA annual conference, they were extremely flexible—we were sent donated wine that we couldn’t use, so they traded the wine with us from their stock for the event. This caterer is helpful and affordable; they will make something good happen for your budget.”

Photographer: “Lloyd Wolf photographed an event for us at the National Press Club, and a half hour after the event, he had DVDs of [his work] for us. Because of his quick turnaround time, we were able to get the images to the client before he left the country. [Wolf] is affordable and produces high-quality work. He also listens to the client, assesses what’s important, and delivers.”

Venue: “It shouldn’t come as a surprise that I recommend the Ritz Carlton, Washington D.C. They provide excellent lighting and setup options for what’s best for TV. We worked with them on an event for the king of Jordan, and they were able to accommodate us on short notice and provide great security.”

Venue: “People know it’s a serious event if it’s held at the National Press Club. This venue specializes in press events, but they have good-quality food-service options and a wide variety of setups. They provide everything from lighting to staging, and the available spaces can hold from 20 guests to a few hundred.”
