2. DIGITAL MARKETING AND MEDIA: The Digital Collective, an organization founded by the company behind Ad:Tech, is bringing digital marketers together across the country. It recently held an event in New York, gathering marketers from top brands like Google, PepsiCo, Estee Lauder, and Anheuser-Busch. The Huffington Post: "Designed to educate through sharing by the most senior digital marketing minds, the Digital Collective also gives its executive participants the opportunity to organize their own gathering at different times of the year in different cities. Often having authors or marketing consultants as speakers in addition to their own speaking contributions, these events really revolve around the close-in gathering and mingling, producing meaningful conversations."

3. ONE MORE ART BASEL RECAP: The New York Times, at a Kim Kardashian lookalike contest put on by MoMA P.S. 1: “Rumps proffered, tube tops strained to the D-cup limit, complexions a uniform spray-on hue characteristic of the citrus state, the faux Kardashians gave the crowd their pneumatic all. But why say faux? Is an imitation Kardashian any phonier than the real? It’s the kind of question that finds a natural setting at Art Basel Miami Beach, the annual art fair slash millionaire mosh pit slash cross-platform branding frenzy that provided the pretext for the P.S. 1 event.”

4. RESTAURANTS STRUGGLING: Both mid-range and family establishments are still struggling to recover earnings. Market researcher NPD Group's recently released forecast suggests that next year won't be much better in terms of number of diners. The Street: "NPD, which expects industry traffic will be flat for the rest of this year, blames the trend on high unemployment and low consumer confidence."
