Call for Ideas: How Would You Design the Olympic Opening Ceremony?

Danny Boyle, the artistic director of the London 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony and the director of Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire, revealed a model of his design for the big event earlier this month. The show on Friday, July 27, will include real farmyard animals on a set modeled after the British countryside.

Ever dreamed of producing the opening ceremony for the summer Olympic Games? Or doodled ideas while watching the show? Here's a chance to show off your design chops: We're inviting event designers, producers, marketers, and other creative industry professionals to submit their concepts for the event—ideas for entertainment, set/stage design, lighting, special effects, social media approach, and other components. We'll publish a selection of our favorites here on BizBash.com.

Interested? Send as many as five renderings, sketches, photos, or mood boards with short, 60-word descriptions, highlighting the main idea behind each image to [email protected]. (By submitting the images, you agree that its content does not infringe copyrights or other property rights of any party. You also agree that the image you are submitting is your own and grant BizBash Media a perpetual nonexclusive, royalty-free, and irrevocable right to use, publish, display, and modify the works for editorial purposes.)

Please submit your ideas by 5 p.m. E.S.T. on Monday, July 9. Medals may or may not be awarded.
