In the evening following the Hamptons Super Saturday sale (the annual fund-raiser for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund), Barbara Kavovit—the female home improvement guru known as Barbara K—took advantage of the high-style crowd in town for a little self-promotion. She invited 30 journalists and designers for cocktails and a seated dinner at Hamptons restaurant Saracen in honor of her line of Barbara K tools for women and the upcoming launch of her show, Savvy, on the Women's Entertainment network.
The dinner menu included calamari fritti, chopped tricolore salad, seafood fettuccini, Chilean sea bass, filet mignon with grilled portabello mushrooms and tiramisu and berries for dessert. Bridgehampton Florist provided the lavender and white flowers on the tables. Gift bags included either Barbara
K's tool kit, dorm survival kit or roadside safety kit.
Invitations for the event, designed by Barbara K and produced by 27, came in a bag with a hammer from Barbara K's line of tools, and a nail-pierced card printed with the relevant information and the quip, "Please join Barbara K for a private dinner if you enjoy great food and getting hammered." Who could resist?
