In tune with the country's patriotic mood, many retailers are offering gift lines that incorporate the stars and stripes and other all-American symbols. Everything from jewelry to decor is showing off a splash of red, white and blue, and such items can make timely, appropriate business gifts and event goodie bag stuffers. So here are a few places to find patriotic gifts:
Bloomingdale's is selling stars and stripes decorative pins and holiday ornaments by vendors including Carolee, Christopher Radko and Wallace to raise money for the American Red Cross and other disaster relief funds.
Senator Hillary Clinton's office takes requests from New York State residents who want to have a United States flag flown over the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., to mark special events or occasions, and then purchase that flag. All requests must go through Clinton's office and be accompanied by the flag request form located on her Web site. (Non-New York residents must contact their respective senators' offices to make requests.)
Matthews International Corporation's Patriotic Tributes line features plaques and sculptures honoring those lost on September 11. Bronze tribute plaques portray images of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and several feature the lyrics to "God Bless America," "The Star Spangled Banner" and "America the Beautiful." Bronze military emblems and American eagle statues as tall as 54 inches are also available.
The Social Graces' Tribute line is a collection of America-themed gifts in glass, wood, silver, leather, bronze and fossilized ivory crafted by American artists. Among the items are a 28-inch bronze sculpture of an eagle in flight and a 14-inch glass plate with cut stars and stripes.
Steuben's America's Best line of glass sculptures incorporates the stars and stripes motif and the American eagle. The line includes a glass torch sculpture anchored on a walnut base and a three-dimensional crystal rendition of the American flag.
Susan Ward Designs' line of limited edition glass bowls, trays and paperweights includes a lead crystal dome paperweight and an 18-inch oval platter both decorated with a collage of all-American items including baseballs, stamps, stars and stripes.
If you don't have time to find the perfect patriotic gift, you can turn to Power Presents and Best Regards. Both are gift-finding resources that scour the market to find unique gifts to match your preferences.
