To create a festive look while retaining the raw loft-style feel of the Burroughes Building, High Road Communications used little other than white twinkle lights and vases filled with Christmas ornaments to set the scene for the company's annual holiday party, held at the Queen Street West venue on Thursday for 300 employees, clients, and journalists. “We wanted to play off the Burroughes Building and the amazing atmosphere it creates,” said High Road’s Laura Bryce. “We’re keeping is simple and elegant."
White twinkle lights provided the only lighting in the front half of the sixth-floor space, where glass vases filled with silver and red holiday ornaments topped tables. In the second room, lit with candles, Bryce created a lounge with all-white furnishings.
High Road turned to Toben Food by Design to handle the catering. Servers passed hors d’oeuvres like wild mushroom risotto cakes with lemon aioli and arugula sprouts and Parmesan crisps with Mexican avocado-tomato salsa and crispy shallots. Sole Power Productions supplied the DJ, and Party Impressions set up a mobile flipbook studio where guests could shoot short video clips that were then turned into personalized photo flipbooks for attendees to take home.
