Ryan Zynger was the senior special events manager at the California Science Center (overseeing events like the Grammy-nominee reception and the annual Discovery Ball) before he took on a new role this month as director of operations at CauseForce, which produces events for nonprofits. Here are some of his favorite vendors.
Lighting: "Aspect Lighting always does an amazing job making the event come alive. Sid Khera is a talented designer and can work wonders within your budget. The company's employees are friendly, an overall joy to work with, and quite professional."
Bartenders: "Beautiful Bartenders. Not only are all of the staff beautiful—no kidding—they are all very professional and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. I would hire them for every event if I could, and to work in my home."
Decor: "Ethnic Essence. The staff are by far my favorite decor specialists, and the designs, including florals and decor, are the most impressive that I have seen."Rentals: "Garth Fjellstrom at AMCO Rents is a great person to handle your audiovisual rental needs. His attention to detail and his ability to perform a job with little direction makes him a very dependable vendor. AB Elements is an outstanding up-and-coming furniture rental vendor, with pieces that include unique fabrics that work well in any facility. They are always updating and adding new pieces, helping to keep events fresh and stylish. Hillcrest Party Rentals is also dependable and treats all of their clients like Number One."
Catering: "Kensington Caterers have been wonderful to work with over the years. Their menus are an inspiration. The food is always fabulous—my favorite are those little hamburgers—and each plate is prepared with amazing [attention to] detail."
Production: "Los Angeles Party Designs is one of my favorites because they take time to listen to a client and ensure the outcome that was requested. Their ideas are fresh and innovative and always on budget. And the staff at Churchill House VIP Events are fabulous event producers. The ideas are creative, and they have an ability to hold it all together with style and class."
Florist: "I always know that I am making a great recommendation when I suggest C.J. Matsumoto & Sons, the most talented florist in all of Southern California. They deliver the most beautiful and consistent floral arrangements, combining flowers, plants, and natural materials."
