A star-filled night sky is a spectacular sight—and now planners can bring the night sky indoors. Starmaze from California-based TLC Special Effects is a self-contained projector unit able to cast celestial images onto a 30-square-foot projection area. Compact and weighing less than five pounds, the unit has a 58-milliwatt laser that projects either green or red stars and an LED light that projects blue nebular patterns. Use it to decorate ceilings, floors, walls, and even bars and food stations. This item, which uses regular 110-watt power, can be suspended or placed on a stand. It has been available in Toronto since January 2007 through design firm D?cor & More, which owns 10 units. The cost to rent an individual projector is $500.
