Cava chef and co-owner Chris McDonald has opened a new chocolate and ice cream shopโXococavaโnext to his restaurant in midtown. McDonald teamed up with pastry chef and chocolatier Laura White, formerly of JS Bonbons, to create a selection of savoury sweets for the Spanish-style confection shop. McDonald and White have created five collections of trufflesโSpanish, savoury, wild, exotic, and classicโwith five chocolates in each collection. The menu features a sort of periodic table of flavours that include chorizo, rosemary and honey, cedar, Szechuan peppercorn, and mint. One collection sells for $10 and all five go for $45. Xococava can prepare truffles for private events, and tastings are also an option.
