Now in its 20th year, the Toronto Fringe Festival, which starts tomorrow, is known for bringing quirky, small-scale theatre of all genres to the cityโas well as a few hits-in-the-making. (The Drowsy Chaperone, anyone?) The survey of entertainment (there are 148 performances in this year's festival) includes improv by four critically acclaimed comedians in About an Hour, contemporary dance mixed with theatre in DAM Madness, dramatic plays like Old Growthโabout two musicians with environmental consciencesโand the one-woman show The Honeymoon Period is Officially Over, starring London's Gemma Wilcox. Performances take place in 25 venues across the city and run through July 13.
