With just over two weeks until LG Fashion Week gets under way, the Fashion Design Council of Canada has reneged on plans to present the fall 2010 collections in a warehouse space in Liberty Village and has announced a move to the Allstream Centre at Exhibition Place.
According to a release distributed by the F.D.C.C., the organization “requires a much larger canvas to articulate its vision,” and while the warehouse at 30 Ordnance Street—announced as the venue late last month—was a "romantic idea," the site presented too many logistical challenges.
"The Allstream Centre provides LG Fashion Week with the space, structure, and innovative design needed to take this international event into a new and exciting decade," said F.D.C.C. chairman Joe Mimran.
After four seasons in the tents at Nathan Phillips Square, the F.D.C.C. held the event in a former car dealership on King Street West last October. (That property is slated for a condominium development.) Fashion week runs from March 28 to April 1.
