2 New Ice Cream Caterers in Toronto

E18778standalone

Now that summer is well under way, here are two new ice cream companies that offer catering for events and corporate functions.

1. Marble Slab Creamery, which opened locations in the Beaches and on Yonge Street earlier this year, can dish out ice cream from a sundae bar or a portable slab at events. Sundae bars, set up on a table decorated with balloons, include two flavours of homemade ice cream and five "mix-ins" such as miniature marshmallows, cookie dough, Reese's Pieces, and caramel. With a portable slab, servers take the in-store experience to an event and mix individual ice cream orders for guests. The cost for a sundae bar is $7 per person with a 50-person minimum. The cost for a portable slab is $9 per person with a 100-person minimum.

2. Alessandro Settimi opened the Mad Italian, a family-owned gelato bar on Bayview Avenue this spring. Traditional fruit flavours like mango, banana, and strawberry are among the 42 homemade selections. Specialty flavours include tiramisu, dulce de leche, white chocolate, and bacio. The shop can supply gelato to be served at events but does not offer traditional catering services. A one-kilogram tub, which serves six people, costs about $15, depending on the flavour. Other desserts like cannoli, ricotta pastries, zeppole, and tarts filled with jam and Nutella are also available.
