The 2005 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) took its bow with a gala following the screening of the police thriller Edison. Ticketholders and journalists formed a line more than a block long while waiting to enter the Harbourfront Centre, where TIFF director of events Barbara Hershenhorn had organized an elegant tented soiree with a heavy focus on lighting.
Pink, blue, and, orange lighting from Screamlab washed over the main tent, highlighting the food stations, two ice sculptures from Iceman, and a centrally located 70-foot bar (similar to the one used for the festival's opening gala at Liberty Grand). Liberty Grand Catering supplied a seasonal menu that included apple cheddar grilled-cheese sandwiches and candied crabapples decorated with sprinkles, toasted hazelnuts, and candies. As well, Liberty Grand stocked the large square-shaped food station at the centre of the V.I.P. tent with shrimp rolls, Peking duck bundles, and wok-fried sweet and sour pork with pineapples. The V.I.P. tent was lit with equal extravagance, using slightly different hues of pink, blue, and orange.

An ice bar that said "Edison" and an ice sculpture inscribed with the Toronto International Film Festival's logo, both from Iceman, helped dress up the festival's closing night party at Harbourfront Centre.

Yukon Events supplied the tent and bar, while Screamlab provided the lighting.

Liberty Grand Catering created a fun twist on candied apples in the V.I.P. lounge.

Chad Finucan Floral Design's large floral arrangements graced the buffet stations.
