For a fun office getaway that gets everyone’s creative juices flowing, try one of these artistic but accessible hands-on workshops.
M Design Studios offers life-drawing classes for groups at its small studio space. Two instructors guide participants through the basic aspects of drawing and anatomy using two models (male and female), and then initiate group exercises like blindfold drawing, puzzles, and discussion. Beer and wine can be brought in to the relaxed workshops, which can accommodate 15 people at all skill levels. Rates are $41 per person for a two-hour session.Have your team try their hand at edible art with a chocolate-making class at JS Bonbons. Participants first learn how to handle chocolate, then go on to make and decorate truffles, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and even a chocolate bowl for transporting the sweet creations. A 90-minute private class is a flat rate of $565 for as many as 28 people, plus an additional $14 per person for food. Larger groups can be accommodated at a nearby off-site location.
During three-hour pottery parties at Clay Design, two instructors demonstrate how to roll out clay, lay it on a mould, and use a pottery wheel to shape it into bowls and platters. Staff members complete the projects after the class by firing and glazing them, and they’re ready for pickup in two weeks. Rates are $50 per person (based on a 10-person minimum), and classes hold as many as 14.
