Toronto's gourmet burger scene got its most high-end entry yet with the January opening of M:brgr, an entertainment district restaurant with availability for private lunches and dinners.
The King Street West outpost, which follows a first location in Montreal, is a clean and simple, streamlined dining room with dark wood floors, thick circular columns, and large exposed ceiling beams. Walls are alternately lined with oak panels, chalkboards, and oversize black-and-white murals of the Toronto skyline.
Seating is a mix of large communal tables, two-tops, and banquettes along the black wall, as well as a three-sided blond wood bar surrounding several flat-panel televisions. The entire dining room seats 200 people and is available for buyout.
M:brgrโs make-your-own-burger concept allows diners to choose from Kobe beef, tuna, and mushroom patties, and then load them with "crazy expensive" toppings like black truffle carpaccio and foie gras. There are also less-indulgent topping options available, like cucumber mango relish, fresh horseradish mayo, and grilled salami, along with truffle potato chip crusted mac 'n' cheese, porcini poutine, and organic pomegranate iced tea.
