9 New Venues in Atlanta for Spring 2023 Meetings and Events

Nobu Atlanta opened in November 2022. But as of February 2023, the hotel and restaurant from chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s eponymous luxury brand began hosting its first corporate events in the hotel’s meeting space. The highly anticipated Nobu outpost's conference center, located on the lobby level, offers a 4,378-square-foot ballroom with 1,400 square feet of prefunction space and two nearby boardrooms. The main ballroom can be air-walled into four smaller spaces as well. But it’s Nobu Atlanta’s rooftop pool deck—debuting in May 2023— that will level up corporate and social receptions alike with stunning views of the city. There's also a ninth-floor Nobu Villa with direct access to a terrace and pool area. And, of course, the on-site Nobu restaurant is a coveted spot for groups. The restaurant’s Sake Room seats 12 in a semi-walled off, zen-like space. For a private dinner, The King’s Table is a special space for 20 at a single table, or 24 at two tables. It can be enclosed in curtains for privacy if needed. A full restaurant buyout is also possible, giving planners about 4,000 square feet of transformational indoor and outdoor space, including entertainment, customized dishes, and interactive stations upon request. Buyouts can host up to 210 seated indoors and 100 seated outdoors.

Flight Club Atlanta hit Atlanta’s West Midtown in January 2023. It's centered around a U.K.-originated concept referred to by Brits as "Social Darts"—electronic, high-tech dart throwing—and farts are also known as “flights,” hence the double-entendre name. The Flight Club outpost is an enormous, two-story corner space that can host up to 550 guests. Each play area can accommodate groups of up to 12, and buyouts of multiple bays are encouraged for larger affairs. The main room is perfect for planners looking for a semi-private function with up to 100 guests. There's also upstairs and downstairs rooms for more private options. Tons of quirky food and drink packages (think: cotton candy, vegan banh mi flatbread, mini poke tacos, and kung pao cauliflower) make for scrumptious add-ons to any large- or small-scale event here.

After making a splash in New York City, Sloomoo opened its doors in Buckhead in November 2022. A brightly colored slime emporium where kid-like behavior is encouraged, Sloomoo has hosted dozens of corporate off-sites, including for the likes of Google, Twitter, and Hearst. From slingshotting slime into plexiglass walls to watching senior leaders get soaked in colored slime, Sloomoo Institute is not a typical team-building venue—in the best way. The concept was built with research revealing that childlike play and sensory compounds impact our mental health and creativity—which can help teams looking to engage in new ways—in mind. Even prior to Sloomoo, co-founder Sara Schiller was influential in reimagining the corporate off-site. Now, her concept offers partial and full buyouts in a vast, warehouse-like space. Although it first opened in June 2022, Rooftop L.O.A. (aka Leave of Absence) recently opened two more event spaces for planners to choose from. Now, aside from the 38,000-square-foot rooftop, the Event Pavilion, the Grove, a pool, and an on-site restaurant, there's a private dining room and the Rooftop Overlook. Perfect for intimate corporate events, the private dining is located on the backside of the venue—off the restaurant—and can accommodate up to 16 guests. It also boasts an exclusive outdoor terrace with unparalleled views of North Atlanta. The newer Rooftop Overlook is also wow-worthy, with open-air room for up to 20 and unobstructed vistas of the city. During winter months, the pool area is reimagined as a cooking demo area. All catering on-site is handled by Slater Hospitality and culinary director Joseph Trevino.

Atlanta’s mixed-use development The Works welcomed Your 3rd Spot, a corporate team-building location, in November 2022. The massive venue can host up to 2,000 guests and features 60 games with catering and drinks all handled in house. Team building here includes everything from curling, cornhole, and darts to pinball machines or table games like shuffleboard, foosball, and air hockey to liven up corporate events. There's also a huge arcade with vintage and new games alike, as well as low-tech games like oversized Jenga, Connect 4, Ringo, Crokinole, and Cards Against Humanity to keep guests and attendees entertained. The 161-room Bellyard Hotel in Atlanta’s West Midtown recently unveiled some exciting new developments—chiefly, a new, all-season terrace called Drawbar. Unveiled in February 2023, the 1,905-square-foot space is located on the second floor of the boutique property and can be used year-round thanks to a rooftop awning, fire pit, and heaters. Hungry event guests will enjoy Southern fare, like crispy hot shrimp with fried pickles, crawfish hushpuppies, or bourbon molasses wings while overlooking the Atlanta skyline. Planners also have the option to combine the space with a 1,658-square-foot courtyard. For planners that prefer the indoors, also on offer at the Bellyard Hotel are three dedicated meeting spaces and a prefunction area.

Downtown Roswell welcomed a chic event space for corporate events in December 2022. Pop Alleigh is an intimate, swanky, 1,000-square-foot spot that got its name from the sound Champagne makes when it opens, plus the fact that it's nestled in an alleyway. The upscale Champagne bar can accommodate up to 50 seated or 63 standing guests. Only full buyouts are offered for private events, and includes the space as well as the staff to pour during the event. Private events are also subjected to minimum spend depending on the day of the week and will be capped at four hours. On offer to planners—a state-of-the-art e11even surround sound system, a space for a live DJ, and an XLR audio plug-in for hired entertainment.

Only six miles from downtown Atlanta, Emory Conference Center Hotel is a 325-room property that underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation in November 2022. Unlike anywhere else in the city, the hotel sits on a serene, 26-acre forest preserve. With the debut of the reno, major advances in technology and AV systems were simultaneously unveiled, as well as the reimagination of its amphitheaters, lobby, communal space, bar, and guest rooms. Upgrades to tech include improved high-speed internet, 10K projection systems with wireless presentation capabilities, and video conferencing systems with built-in cameras. The Emory Conference Center Hotel was Atlanta's first LEED-certified conference center, and it upholds its eco-friendly reputation thanks to a design that incorporates local materials to reduce its carbon footprint. For team building, look no further than the on-site, retro six-lane bowling alley, billiards table, and video game stations.

In August 2022, Knife Modern Mediterranean opened its oversized wooden doors on the corner of Peachtree Road and Piedmont Avenue, the bustling main drag of Buckhead. The restaurant's decor includes loads of black, brass, and red, making the space feels more Miami than Atlanta—a vibe that matches the splashy Mediterranean fare on the menu. There are Insta-worthy moments built-in throughout the space—like flowers hanging from the ceiling, a dramatic wall of red roses, cushy oversized circular booths, and bold art on the walls—which can seat up to 140. In the back of Knife Modern Mediterranean, there's a semi-private room that can be roped off for events. Full and partial buyouts available, with valet also on-site. And something to look forward to: A new downstairs space will open this spring, giving event planners even more square footage to work with.
