The Intercontinental Buckhead

On the verge of the brand’s 75th anniversary, IHG overhauled one of its signature properties: The Intercontinental Buckhead. In May 2022, celebrity chef Scott Conant opened The Americano overlooking Peachtree as part of a property-wide renovation of this iconic Atlanta hotel. Similar to the beloved Scottsdale resto, The Americano is an Italian-inspired steakhouse with sleek, dark interiors and gold accents. With two private dining rooms (hosting 12 or 24 people) and an outdoor patio, event planners won’t have to do much to wow their guests. Just make sure caviar fries, Hamachi crudo, and braised wagyu beef cheeks are on the evening’s lineup. Furthermore, the hotel’s grand lobby (pictured) was also completely reimagined, and the property added a new Breakfast Cafe, plus enhancements across its 31,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The lobby’s newly bowed rose marble floors and large-scale abstract paintings by local artist Niki Zarrabi are breathtaking upon arrival. Later this summer, expect phase two of the renovation: a rebranded spa, updates to 422 guest rooms, as well as the Windsor Gardens and saltwater pool, and lastly, the exclusive 21st-floor Club Lounge.

Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center

A posh $12 million lobby renovation and the addition of four new culinary concepts are complete at Omni Atlanta Hotel just in time to kick off summer. A stone’s throw from the World Congress Center, State Farm Arena, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the luxury downtown Atlanta property sits within CNN’s World Headquarters and has sweeping views of Centennial Olympic Park. For any kind of sports-themed event and pre- or post-game soiree, the new Top Draft is ideal. The restaurant’s lacquered red floors and chic team decor are the hippest backdrop for elevated bar food like butter-poached lobster fries and sweet corn fritters. For something more serene, New South Kitchen has floor-to-ceiling windows with fabulous views and Southern fare, including sweet tea, fried chicken, and a build-your-own shrimp and grits bar. The sleek Vues Lobby Bar (pictured) and an adorable coffee and sandwich spot round out the new dining foursome. The hotel has 1,067 guest rooms and 45 meeting rooms inside its two towers in the heart of downtown Atlanta.

5Church Buckhead

Buckhead welcomed a second location of 5Church to the city in early June. Although owned by the same team behind 5Church Midtown, this hot spot has a completely different feel (the fantastical 27-foot artwork by Amy Radar and ceiling murals by Dr. Dax are pure eye candy). Its unique food and cocktail menu—with a few faves carried over from the other location—are both high-end and sophisticated. Snuggled into the ground floor of the 3379 Peachtree building, 5Church Buckhead is walking distance to a long row of hotels, shopping, and nightlife destinations. The restaurant can seat 140 guests in the main dining room, while the enclosed sunroom seats 75. The sunroom (pictured) is a jewel box with its bright blue banquets and stark white trees. Every influencer at your event will be snapping selfies. For planners interested in cultivating a smaller, more unique experience, a chef’s table offers seating in the kitchen. For now, 5Church Buckhead is only open in the evenings, but lunch and brunch service will begin this summer.

The Starling

The Starling is the new Curio Collection by Hilton property that took over the former W Atlanta Midtown. The rebrand was unveiled in June and takes its nomenclature from the starling bird that can be found in nearby Piedmont Park. In fact, the entire property pays homage to Atlanta’s nickname, "the city in the forest." The Starling includes several reimagined venues, 466 guest rooms, as well as floral print on the ceiling and framed birds throughout. The new, on-site restaurant Lantana also promises bold, floral designs as an Insta-worthy addition for guests and eventgoers alike. And the restaurant’s Bang Island mussels paired with a Mandarin Ginger Gin Sour will delight. Event planners will find these spaces, as well as an additional 45,500 square feet of meeting space, including a 9,400-square-foot ballroom and a top-floor event space with panoramic views of the city. Public spaces, such as an expansive terrace pool and funky lobby lounge, can also be used for events.

Salesforce

Famed corporation Salesforce is spreading ‘ohana around Atlanta. ‘Ohana is a Hawiian word that means “extended and chosen family.” On the 34th floor of the new Salesforce building in Buckhead sits a beautiful space available only for nonprofit events. Known as the ‘Ohana Floor, it's open weekdays from 5:30-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. It’s essentially a complimentary space for local charitable organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and nonprofits to host fundraisers and receptions with humanitarian or educational causes. A few rules to note: Each group is limited to one event per year, events are limited to five hours, and gatherings must be booked up to six months in advance. The exceptional space has 360-degree views of the city and holds up to 250 people.

Rooftop LOA

Atlanta has been waiting for a spot like this one. With a decidedly LA-meets-Miami-meets-Brooklyn vibe, Rooftop LOA has three unique offerings on the top floor of Westside’s new Interlock development. Upstairs, there is The Restaurant, Pavilion, and Grove. The Restaurant offers planners two private spaces to choose from: a dining room that can hold 24 guests, and the adjacent outdoor terrace with stunning vistas of Atlanta. And the Event Pavilion has 2,000 square feet of equally private indoor/outdoor space that can host 100 seated or 150 standing guests. If semi-private will do, opt for the Grove, which is a dramatic, 4,000-square-foot outdoor space and a stunning jewel in this new Westside Atlanta development. All event catering is handled by The Restaurant and culinary director Joseph Trevino. Built-in speakers and TV screens are available upon request, and bookings for fall 2022 are now being accepted.

The Elevation Room and The Horizon Ballroom at The Battery Atlanta

Located inside Cobb County’s tallest building, TK Elevator’s Innovation and Qualification Center, is The Elevation Room. This two-story event space within the 420-foot-tall tower has a dramatic, floating staircase that gives guests a clear view of Truist Park through expansive, floor-to-ceiling windows. Opened in February, the main floor is a 3,246-square-foot vibrant, modern space perfectly appointed for intimate events of up to 175 people cocktail style and 128 people seated. A mezzanine in The Elevation Room can be utilized as a 1,537-square-foot space overlooking the main floor. Plan your event to coincide with a Braves game and get a complimentary fireworks display for guests when the ninth inning is over. Don’t sleep on The Horizon Ballroom (pictured) either, which is located down on the tower’s fourth floor. This 5,720-square-foot space holds up to 400 guests standing and 296 seated. It can easily be converted into three smaller rooms for more intimate gatherings. All bookings are handled by the Truist Park events team.

Davio's Atlanta

Davio's Atlanta closed down in 2020 and renovated its space during COVID-19 lockdowns. This Buckhead favorite took that time to create two more private dining spaces (one pictured), install all new furnishings, and clear out its original obtrusive columns to make the space more accommodating for large gatherings. This Phipps Plaza mainstay now has three private dining rooms that can host anywhere from 10-300 guests. Full restaurant buyouts are also available. Davio’s Atlanta also brought on a new chef, Ann Kim, who was most recently the executive chef for Garden & Gun Club magazine. The restaurant also has its eyes set on a new, state-of-the-art covering for its primo patio slated to open later this year. The heated patio seats 80 for dinner or 125 guests for a reception.

1705 West

New to West Midtown Atlanta, 1705 West is a new venue boasting 7,700 square feet of indoor and outdoor areas, state-of-the-art amenities, and demo kitchens. More than that though, all proceeds from its private bookings benefit Meals on Wheels Atlanta (MOWA), which is adjacent to the space. This summer, BMW and the Office of the Mayor have already booked events. Planners will find a spacious patio with a wood-burning oven that allows for cooking demos, creative food displays, and more. Designed for food-forward events, 1705 West has state-of-the-art commercial, demonstration, and outdoor kitchens. It also has several reception areas for greeting guests, as well as an executive boardroom and a small conference room for professional events. The latter is ideal for gatherings with up to 150 guests. A curated art installation by SCAD alumni and flexible design by ASD | Sky Architects ensure its creative ambiance.
