Boston Wine Exchange opened in February in the Financial District, offering a wide selection of wines, as well as craft beers and spirits. The shop can accommodate as many as 20 people for private tastings, which usually run from 60 to 90 minutes. There is no charge to hold an event, although the host is required to spend a minimum of $20 per person on wine, which guests can take home as favors. A group can bring in light snacks, or Boston Wine Exchange can provide appetizers for an additional fee. The store also has a tasting machine that dispenses samples of up to eight different bottles and uses nitrogen and argon gases to keep the wine fresh and at the right temperature for up to 30 days.
