Nearly 500 guests headed to the city’s newest building at Fan Pier on Wednesday for a holiday party hosted by New England Cable News program Style Boston and Boston Magazine. Party by Design transformed the raw 15th-floor space into an upscale lounge setting with touches of silver, white, and mirrored accents against concrete flooring and exposed piping to highlight the floor-to-ceiling views of Boston Harbor.
“We’re trying to bring New York to Boston,” said PBD owner Michael Nedeau. “The crowd Style Boston brings is made up of the style setters, the media, the real estate agents—the industry folks that really appreciate cutting-edge design. This was an opportunity to show Boston what it’s like to do holiday glamour in a raw space.”
The resulting look was a study in contrasts: Sleek white benches were placed in intimate nooks on the concrete floors, and sheer, floor-sweeping fabric was set against the raw walls.
Nedeau and his team pulled in the evening’s sponsors in subtle ways: Flat-screen TVs played clips of Style Boston while the show’s four hosts mingled with guests; small window decals showcased the Boston Magazine and PBD logos; models donned furs in front of oversize gilded mirrors with small Maximilian at Bloomingdale's adhesive logos; a mirrored bar poured Grey Goose cocktails. A bit more obvious were the eight-foot-tall glittery letters spelling out "Louis" in honor of sponsor and luxury clothing purveyor Louis Boston.
Also featured were sips by Westport River Vineyard and Winery and Harpoon, and passed hors d'oeuvres by the Catered Affair, plus music by DJ Miss Thang and a live acoustic set by local band Thirteen Yards to Victory.
