Here are three ways to make summer associates and interns feel appreciated.
1. Saba Alhadi, author of Boston in Photographs, provides guided walking tours of Boston through her company, PhotoWalks. Alhadi includes photography tips along with historical tidbits about the city, so people with or without cameras will learn something new. Five standard tours are available (Beacon Hill, Back Bay, the Freedom Trail, Public Garden, and the waterfront) and custom walks are available as well. Hour-long private tours start at $50 per person.
2. For a group outing, the Ocean Club at Marina Bay in Quincy offers waterfront views and a range of activities including volleyball, table tennis, Wii games, spa treatments, and billiards. The 62,000-square-foot space has four different areas available for rent, including an indoor lounge with a DJ booth, two tented bars, and 15 private cabanas, which come with flat-screen TVs, wet bars, and servers. Menus are available for passed hors d'oeuvres, beachy buffet meals (including a roasted suckling pig), and cocktails.
3. Cherry Bomb Bakery in Brighton is the latest addition to Boston's cupcake scene. Flavors include Boston cream pie, double chocolate with chocolate-covered bacon, and the Lemon Snap (lemon cake with lemon curd and vanilla buttercream). Vegan, gluten-free, and custom cupcakes are available as well. The bakery offers catering for large and small events; pricing usually runs about $2.25 to $2.75 per cupcake. Delivery is available for a small fee.
