Associated Press: "Organizers announced plans Wednesday to serve 14 million meals during the games, calling it 'the largest peace time catering operation in the world.' 3. PEPSI'S TWITTER DEAL: The beverage giant has formed a yearlong marketing partnership with the social media service for its "Live for Now Music" campaign. The initiative will include a series of concerts announced only one to two weeks in advance and streamed through the @Pepsi handle as well as analyze tweets to fold trending topics into Pepsi's Twitter page. "This is the biggest initiative a marketer has done with Twitter to date," Adam Bain, Twitter's president of global revenue, told Advertising Age. The deal follows the April announcement of Coca-Cola's collaboration with Spotify. http://bit.ly/MYrscx

4. BOOZE BAN TO BE LIFTED: North Carolina lawmakers are planning to ease a law to allow for access to alcohol for attendees of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte. Politico: "Under current law, state-run liquor stores in North Carolina are required to close on Labor Day, which falls on Monday, September 3—the day before the September 4-6 convention. The stores are also required to close on Sundays, possibly creating a logistical nightmare for bars and restaurants, who wouldn’t be able to stock up ahead of the convention rush. … The [new] law would create an exemption only for 2012." http://politi.co/Nfyyai

Schoenfeld, chief executive at Pacific Sunwear, who recalled how he was 'up all night on Black Friday in three or four of our stores, and customers were having a blast.'” The magazine's consumer promotion will include sales, free samples, and events in stores and malls. http://nyti.ms/LJ4JeJ

6. NONPROFIT MESS: Singer Mary J. Blige has promised to clean up her charity, the Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now. The New York Post: "Blige’s charity has been hit with two civil lawsuits—one claiming the group stiffed musicians at its 2011 fund-raising gala and another accusing FFAWN of defaulting on a $250,000 loan. … It also failed to file a 2010 federal tax return and its annual state-charity registration. Another $60,000 raised from perfume sales also is unaccounted for." http://nyp.st/JBbdkp
