MUSEUM: The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is set to announce a major sponsorship from Hyundai, a 10-year deal that will fund acquisitions and exhibitions that will focus on Korean art. 2. CHICAGO’S MCCORMICK PLACE SEES CONVENTION ATTENDANCE BOOST: Strong attendance at events such as the Chicago Auto Show and Chicago Boat Show helped the McCormick Place convention center total attendance grow to 2.3 million people in 2014, despite an overall drop in the number of events held there. Crain’s Chicago Business: McCormick Place general manager David Causton “pointed to the amount of space exhibitors rented last year—an increase of 5 percent to 8.41 million square feet—as a key barometer of the convention center's health. Coming out of the recession, ‘the first thing that recovers is attendance, and the second is net square footage’ rented by exhibitors, Causton said. ‘What you're seeing now is an uptick in attendance but, more importantly, of net square footage.’” http://bit.ly/1Nc1JKk
3. ALCOHOL START-UPS BRING IN INVESTORS: Start-ups in the alcohol industry—including ones serving the event industry—brought in $100 million in funding last year, with investors saying it’s a growing area for innovation.
