December 10, 2015: "Stoner Brides" Bringing Legalized Marijuana to Weddings, New York Investigates Event Ticket Resellers, 'Playboy' Commits to First NewFront Appearance

1. "STONER BRIDES" BRINGING LEGALIZED MARIJUANA TO WEDDINGS: Brides and grooms who enjoy marijuana—or know their guests do—are incorporating weed into their weddings. From catering to floral arrangements to party favors, so-called “stoner brides” are getting creative in their use of the drug despite resistance from more traditional family members. Racked: “In states where weed is legal and widely socially accepted, couples have begun to incorporate cannabis into their weddings in delightful and original ways. … From gift bags of ganja to your traditional wedding bouquet with a touch of bud (it is a flower, after all), the growth of the cannabis industry gives going green on your wedding day a whole new meaning.” http://bit.ly/1QxMJJy

2. NEW YORK INVESTIGATES EVENT TICKET RESELLERS: Offering tickets to concerts and other events before tickets are for sale may amount to deceptive advertising, according to the New York attorney general, whose office notified ticket resellers StubHub, TicketNetwork, and Vivid Seats that it was investigating. The New York Times: “Speculative tickets harm both consumers and the ticket industry,” says letters from the office of the attorney general, Eric T. Schneiderman. “In many cases, consumers who purchase a speculative ticket do not receive the seats that were advertised and paid for. In some cases, consumers receive no tickets at all. Speculative ticket sales also drive up prices for consumers, and often cause widespread confusion and frustration among consumers, who wonder how tickets can appear on the resale market before tickets are released to the public.” http://nyti.ms/1PZHFiQ

3. ‘PLAYBOY’ COMMITS TO FIRST NEWFRONT APPEARANCE: The Digital Content NewFronts will celebrate its fifth year in 2016 by adding a day to its schedule and adding marquee names like Playboy to its roster of participants. The advertising industry event, held May 2-13 in New York, is the online world’s answer to televisions upfronts. Adweek: “Joining Playboy as first-time presenters are Mashable, Hearst, WebMD, Woven Digital and Trusted Media Brands (formerly Reader's Digest). Amid reports of a possible sale and a flagging video business, Yahoo—one of the NewFronts' co-founders—will be among the presenters. Microsoft, another co-founder, dropped out after its 2013 presentation.” http://bit.ly/1M3mNPR
