The Los Angeles chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences celebrated Long Beach rapper Snoop Dogg, Grammy winner Lalo Schifrin, and MySpace co-founders Tom Anderson and Chris DeWolfe at its Recording Academy Honors event (formerly known as the Governor awards) at the Kodak Theatre’s grand ballroom on June 8. Interscope Geffen A&M Records chairman Jimmy Iovine and academy director Brett Ratner made short presentations, and Bow Wow, Natalie Cole, and Dr. Dre performed. Snoop’s fellow Long Beach Crew members Nate Dogg and Warren G were among the attendees. The evening included a silent auction; proceeds will assist in funding scholarships for the Grammy Foundation’s Grammy Camp program.
