Shells Seafood Restaurants Inc. filed for bankruptcy on September 2, after closing three of its Orlando restaurants. The chain once operated 22 locations across Florida, but now run 14, from New Smyrna Beach to Miami.
Shells' filing follows the trend of decreased casual-dining patronage for the area. According to The Orlando Sentinel, Shells saw a net loss of $667,000 for their second financial quarter this year, though that was only a little more than half of the $1.15 million loss they suffered in the same quarter last year.
