London-based brand Soho House opened its third North American property, Soho Beach House, in mid-Miami Beach last week. The oceanfront property is on the former site of the Sovereign Hotel and combines aspects of a private club, hotel, and spa, with areas open to nonmembers for hosting events of 22 to 150 people.
There are 50 hotel rooms, many with ocean or Biscayne Bay views, spread throughout the 15 sleeping floors of the tower. In-house restaurant Cecconi’s, a signature of the Soho House brand, is on the first floor of the tower and is suited for business entertaining. The Italian restaurant is decorated like an outdoor garden, with a retractable roof in case of rain, and can seat as many as 150.
Also on the main level, the Drawing Room is home to a selection of works from the Soho House art collection, and taps into the flavor of its locale with a Cuban coffee bar and cigar collection. The space is ideally suited for small business meetings, lunches catered by Cecconi's, or post-work cocktails.
For smaller groups, the second-floor Screening Snug movie theater can seat 22 on sofas for a private film screening, or serve as an unconventional presentation space for a meeting.
Up on the eighth floor, the pool deck and bar can host 75. Nearby, there is also a private dining room with a large square table for 18. The adjacent library, outfitted with a variety of club chairs, can seat 30 for dinners or meetings or host 50 for a small receptions when used in conjunction with the private dining room. In the connecting 16-story tower, the 15th-floor penthouse can fit 60 for private dining or entertaining and has a private stairway leading to the rooftop terrace.
