The restaurant's interiors are inspired by the history of its location--once the site of the Peacock Inn, a hub of late-19th/early-20th-century life in Coconut Grove. Black-and-white photos and archival documents from that time decorate the walls, and are complemented by vintage furnishings and antiques. Unique touches also include the light fixtures made out of mason jars that hang above the bar.
In the kitchen, executive chef Oscar del Rivero has created a menu that uses produce and herbs from local Miami farms, and includes a number of fresh salads, flatbreads, and grilled chicken, steak, and seafood. Appetizer items such as the charcuterie-style picnic board and Biscayne Bay crispy seafood platter are good choices for cocktail-style parties. Planners can work with the chef on menu options for events.
Peacock Garden Cafe is the third restaurant from Miami's Jaguar Hospitality Group, which also owns Jaguar Ceviche in Coconut Grove and Talavera Cocina in Coral Gables. The restaurant is downstairs at the Sonesta Bayfront Hotel Coconut Grove.
