The Times Pans Trade Show

Dolce & Gabbana's debut at the Magic trade show in Las Vegas August 28 to 31 was the only thing at the show worth talking about, at least according to Guy Trebay's story in The New York Times. Trebay pans most of the famous apparel convention, calling it "aimless and mired," although he praises D&G for its unique approach to the show. The design house skipped the typical trade show booth, opting instead for a poolside fashion show at the Hard Rock Hotel with a live performance by singer Mary J. Blige for an invited crowd of 3,500.
