New York's first Fashion Week since the September 11 attacks is planned for February 8 to 15, and the event is drawing added attention while its home base gets smaller. More than 40 designers (including Hugo Boss, Anne Klein and DKNY) are slated to show during the week, and "it" boys Jeremy Scott and Balenciaga's Nicholas Ghesquiere have moved their shows from Paris. Meanwhile, show organizer 7th on Sixth has cut the number of tents in Bryant Park from four to two, and upped the prices: a 700-seat venue costs $34,000 and a 424-seat venue costs $40,000, according to The New York Post. Rand.m Productions will run three more venues in the Puck Building (a 450-seat ballroom for $17,000, a 250-seat daylight loft for $14,000, and a 180-seat room for $11,000) but designers complain about requiring retailers and editors to travel away from the week's Midtown headquarters.
