Tweed Courthouse as Event Space?

The plans to move the Museum of the City of New York from its Harlem home to the Tweed Courthouse--which recently underwent an $80 million restoration--have been put on hold by the Bloomberg administration. The deal to move the museum, struck during the Giuliani administration, is now being reconsidered, with Bloomberg officials thinking of using the space as city offices instead. One caterer we know thinks the space--which is sitting idly while City Hall makes a decision--should be opened as an event venue in the meantime, citing that rental fees could help pay for the additional $40 million cost of turning the courthouse into a museum.
