Times Square behemoth the Marriott Marquis is planning a multi-million dollar renovation to all of its 1,900 guest rooms, according to Crain's New York. Planned a few years ago, the renovation was put on hold after the tourism slump that followed the September 11 attacks. But now the Marquis' occupancy rate has rebounded to 90 percent, and the renovation is back on schedule. Crain's reports that the renovation will include "fluffy new duvets—a must-have feature in business hotels these days." And despite increased competition by the brand new Westin New York—Times Square and the W New York—Times Square, a Marquis spokeswoman says the renovation is not a reaction to the new hotels.
