Thieves Target Javits Jewelry Shows

Although many trade shows have a heightened security presence due to fears of terrorism, there have recently been crimes at two shows at the Javits Center, Successful Meetings reports. One man—wearing a stolen identification tag—was arrested attempting to walk away from a vendor’s booth with a tray of diamonds worth $4,000. Another vendor reports being robbed of nearly $1 million in jewels; the thief has not been caught.
