Tomorrow, the International Association for Exhibition Management gathers to discuss ways to boost trade show attendance at the Hotel Pennsylvania. And at the Angel Orensanz Center Foundation for the Arts is the Taste of the Lower East Side benefit. Sunday the Metropolitan Opera holds its On Stage at the Met benefit. A gala to benefit the New Museum of Contemporary Art will be held at Cipriani Wall Street and will feature decor from Renny and Reed.
On Monday, the International Fashion Fabric Exhibition opens at the Javits Center—with seminars on colors, trends, and design and a variety of textile vendors through next Wednesday. The Kips Bay Decorator Show House preview gala is also that evening; the interior design showcase opens to the public Tuesday and continues through May 15. The Film Society of Lincoln Center honors Dustin Hoffman with its Gala Tribute at Avery Fisher Hall. And next Tuesday the Tribeca Film Festival gets off to a start with an uptown event—the premiere of Universal Studios’ The Interpreter. The screening will be at the Ziegfeld Theatre and the party is at the Museum of Modern Art. Jhada of New York is providing event production and DeJuan Stroud is doing floral design. The festival (planned by Karen Dalzell, one of our Event Planners of the Year in 2004) makes its home in its namesake neighborhood and runs through May 1. Also Tuesday, Metropolitan Home magazine celebrates its Design 100 issue with a party at the Four Seasons Restaurant. And at the Metropolitan Pavilion, the Digital Marketing Conference and Expo begins, continuing through Wednesday.
