Radar Relaunches With Two Parties

Radar magazine feted its much-anticipated relaunch on Wednesday, May 18, with a two-tiered celebration that focused more on people than production. First an A-list of about 200 guests—including Ed Koch, Al Sharpton, Tina Brown, Candace Bushnell, and BiZBash hall-of-famer Julian Niccolini—were invited to the new Times Square boutique hotel QT; afterward they joined hordes of plebes at a less-exclusive, later-night party at Marquee. Because of all the buzz already surrounding the mag, large-scale event production was unnecessary to draw a crowd (there was little in the way of decor), and the after-party was packed to the point of being uncomfortable for some guests’ tastes.
