Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood—flush with galleries, bars, and restaurants—has a new hotel. The Crowne Plaza Chicago Metro (733 West Madison, 312.829.5000) opened in July with 398 guest rooms, including 42 suites. Each room has a flat-screen television, high-speed Internet access, and a private balcony, along with some touches typical of a hotel going for an upscale boutique feel. (A “sleep kit” comes with an eye mask, a soothing CD, and lavender spray.) Event spaces include a 4,620-square-foot ballroom, two conference rooms, and a 10-seat boardroom. In-house restaurant Dine is billed as an American brasserie and martini bar with a 1940’sinspired look, a 132-seat dining room, and a 78-seat lounge.
